Brain Freeze

I have been struggling totally with my quilt space.
I wish my family would just move out so I can have the whole house to myself!!!

I will be getting a Mega Quilter and frame at the end of the month--
and I don't even have enough space for the things I have now!!!

I share my quilt corner with our entry room and the main door is there
and the computer and the book shelves and so I've got to keep
it a little neat so I don't have this eye sore to look at every time
I walk into the house--and the family doesn't want to see the mess, either!!

The first picture is my quilt space with my sewing table moved
to the dining room
and the second picture is the dining room
with my sewing table in it and another new antique sewing machine and
a basket of laundry!!!

Usually I am pretty good about the laundry and keeping it moving
but it seems I am always having to clear something to get started!!!

Who's got those organization tips for me??
Usually I am the one people call for the organizational kick in the ass--
but I can't see the forest through the trees at this point !!!

I am thinking of changing the light fixture in my dining room and making it
into a more sitting room feel and moving my machine in there permanently.
We go through the dining room to get to all the rooms in my house
so I don't want it to feel like it's a quilting dumping ground!!

Any thoughts!!!
does anyone even know I am out here??
(i am sure my very good freind will alert everyone in blog land
and let all know i am here and whining on the internet!!)

still picking up----jen

Everybody say "HOT HOT HOT"

So I survived the cruise!!
But I've been so busy getting back into real life I haven't been online much!
Today is nice and hot and a perfect day to sit and do nothing! (or blog)

My darling and I had a great time on vacation.
We reconnected with all the friends we made last year.
(It is a company trip-Hubby won it through work)
We stayed up too late and ate too much.
It was a perfect relaxing vacation.

Being completely submerged in the "Disney" world
there truly wasn't much to do but sit around and relax.
And I think we all did that very well.
And although the environment was very commercial--
the staff was phenomenal. They treated every guest as thought
we were family!

We have vacationed every year for the last 3 out of 4 years and it is the best thing
we do for each other!
It is so great to know we still like each other without
the distractions of everyday life!!

Aloha!!

It's All About the shoes...

Well--I leave for vacation tomorrow morning!!
I am leaving the five kiddies and the four cats and the two new pups!!
And I am headed to fun filled Florida in July!!
(can you detect the sarcasm yet?)
And the kicker is we are going to Disney--without the kids!!!
-Thank goodness they have a pool at the hotel-
No, seriously my darling husband has worked his bottom off
and won us a weeks paid vacation through work and this years
trip just happens to be Disney
(last year was LA and Hawaii and next year is Cancun)

But we only have to spend three days at Disney (yuck)
and then we go on to our four night cruise!!

Now to be completely honest,
I was not looking forward to this at all
(abnormal fear of water)
but since I have started packing
I realized--
There is the potential for three outfit changes a day!!!

Breakfast-pool

Dinner-the adults only restaurant (Disney cruise)

And then back to the room for a little "napping"
and change in to evening wear to scope out the clubs!!!

When I realized I could dust off some of my clothes
--and go shopping--
Well, it just is fun!!!

And did I find the best shoes!!
(and stick bra)

After an agonizing evening at the mall
(instead of the quilt shop)
I was failing everywhere-
Boobs too small
bottom too big
and no white shoes to be found(it is still summer, right?)

So, like the trooper I am--I gave it one more try!!
(Tried a department store)
I found a sticky bra that fit
(and a much nicer sales girl)
to go with my backless, floor length red metallic evening gown.

Gave up on the shorts-got new shirts to go with the old ones.

and the shoes, oh the shoes!!!!

I was desperate for white sandles.
After trying on fifty pairs, I made myself try on the last ugly ones
and they were perfect for the little white chiffon dress I have.

And as I was trying to leave the department
(like trying to leave the quilt shop)
I spotted the sexiest black sandles.
They fit in a fabulous way!!
And I scrunched my eyes as I check the price
(for this would be an impulse purchase)
and the tag said $21.00 and
my cart was already a little too full.
But looking around, most of the summer stuff was on sale-
Could I have stumble on an item not yet marked down?
Spying two engrossed sales clerk, I asked where the nearest
price check was. She pointed it out and I casually bolted
right over to it.
I scanned my beautiful black shoes and held my breath.
My eyebrows went up in excitement--could this be right??
I scanned them again
and again just to be sure!!!
On sale for $11.00.

And let me tell you
I have the sexiest feet in the north country!

Happy Fifth of July!!
I took a much needed "break" from my life yesterday
and had too many Coronas!!! Thanks to plenty of early morning H2Os
I am feeling dandy!!
I had a hectic week and had company yesterday to do the cooking(yeah!!!)
so it was a true holiday for me!!!
They house is picked up so the plan is to
spent some sewing time this afternoon
and then off to p-burgh to get the odds and ends I need for my trip next week.

Hubby won a trip to Florida-Disneyland-and a 4 day Disney cruise.
We leave next Thursday. I am trying to be excited but I have an abnormal fear
of water and I am motion sick--so well see!!! Hubby is very excited, so I am trying to get caught up in his momentum. And i will have a whole week of peace and quiet!!!

I am actually much more excited about my trip to New Hampshire
next April to the MQX.
If you get the chance to go--it was great and the deal on thread was spectacular--
wholesale prices and no tax!!!
I have already started saving for the thread purchase!!!
And this time we are staying right in the hotel where the show is--
no driving once we get there!!!

And Keepsake Quilting is in NH also
so we will plan a trip to them on our way out (while we still have cash)
It is going to be great!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Quilting All------j

This is a wall quilt I complete several months ago
from fat quarters I received from an online
fat quarter club.

It was finished just at the right time to give as
a gift to someone who "needed" it just then.
(and her favorite color is purple!!)
(divine intervention)

I have nothing interesting to report today
except that I am feeling very lazy!

I hope the world is having a much more energized day than
I.
Maybe I will accomplish more after dinner!!!

p.s. The pups are good today--only one accident!

My lovely pups have driven me insane on this warm summer day!!!
I just walked the heck out of them and came in to peruse the computer
and when i did the walkthru to make sure my furniture was intact
this is the sight i saw!!!!
They are too darn cute (when they are sleeping).

To all the obscure movie buffs out there--
have you seen American Splendor?
It is the true story of Harvey Pekar.
very off the wall, but funny in a dark sort of way.

i watch way too many movies
so i have to seek out the ones that are in the corners collecting dust.
and about half the time they turn out to be gems!!
i found this on the shelves of my corner mart
under all the latest and greatest that i have no interest in seeing.
take a chance--it might be worth it!!

I love art quilts!!

love and God bless---j
